Tokenomics

The retail experience in 2024 is bad.

Current regulatory uncertainty makes launching a token hard, and launching a good token even harder.  But rescuing Web3 from its current doldrums requires a simple commitment:

Make good products, with good tokenomics.

Airlinez will be launching a token in mid-late 2025.  Access to this token will be limited on a state-by-state basis, and we are hopeful that the US will have instituted some sane Web3 policy by then.

You will not be required to purchase the Airlinez token in order to play the game. A core ideal of Airlinez is to have as little user friction as possible when it comes to starting, playing and cashing out from games.

An ideal vision of the future utility of the Airlinez token would be the following:

 1) Profit sharing:  Crypto is capable of massively streamlining retail access to profitable startups.      We should be leaning into this.

2) Stake-to-win:  The plan is for Airlinez to offer expensive flagship games, on weekly, monthly and longer timescales, that will allow whales and chart trading influencers to show their skills, compete against one another, and win very large prizes.   Regular holders can stake the Airlinez token, in order to be in the running to win free entries in these games. Each staked token would count as a single entry, an ongoing lottery ticket into high profile matches.

3) NFTs and unlockables:  Consistently winning games in Airlinez unlocks new aircraft designs, skins, and backgrounds.  Staked tokens could also count as ongoing entries to win rare in-game items and NFTs of this sort.

4) Gas discounts: While gas costs on Arbitrum Nova/Orbit are cheap, it would be a nice, simple incentive for the platform for cover gas costs for users that have a minimum amount of the token staked.

Beyond a useful token that is actively tethered to the profitability of the project, there are also ways to make the launch desirable for retail users, mostly by diverging from many of the bad habits plaguing Web3 token launches in 2024.

This includes launching at a low market cap.  There is no better advertising than a token gaining in value, but the current meta, of launching at huge valuations and utterly ridiculous FDVs, is the antithesis of this.  One need only look at the returns of tokens launched in 2024 to see how broken this situation has become..

Launching at a low cap and enriching your early buyers is the ultimate way to bootstrap a loyal community, and it’s mutually beneficial. As their profits increase, so does their fanaticism.

The primary obstacle to all of this is regulatory.  Knowing this, our plan is to launch in the friendliest jurisdictions, and work our way out from there.  We are absolutely convinced that Airlinez is a revolution in chart trading and a solution to the core Web3 problem of there being “nothing to do”.

We are excited to work with like-minded regulators to make this conviction a reality.  We look forward to launching a token that bucks all of the bad faith trends of the current Web3 space, and provides buyers with ongoing rewards and value.
